The ministry of telecommunication in Japan is aiming to have a policy of opening up cellphone SIM to revitalize the cellphone market in Japan.

Here is the news in Japanese (http://www.itmedia.co.jp/news/articles/0701/22/news036.html). Well, I hope this will push thru. Meaning the system will be quite similar to the Philippines....highe r cost of hardware but, lesser cost of communication fee.

Well, I guess this move by the Japanese gov't is in preparation for the coming of iPhone.
