curious question to students here:

wala lang.

Tapos nagugulat sila kung bakit ako marunong mag english.

sana walang ma-offend(i don't mean either) pero nangyari sa akin ito....studyante din ako ngayon dito sa Japan, unti unti may mga concern authorities sa school, though friendly naman yung approach but if you shed it in another light there`s a tweak in their questions, might be because related ang hubby ko sa president sa school and they've seen my hubby always with me and working on my papers sa school.......kaya siguro they find it strange....well, well, well....I cut them off with their onward negative impression on Filipino women that majority of Filipino women "found" their spouses while working in the clubs/pubs

...isn't it we all got our memorable love storylines to tell:)

Well racism is common here, not only to students but also to all foreigners from different walks of life. This is probably because the Japanese society is still considered as homogenous. Anyway, the way I handle racism here in school is to overwhelm them with my assets. It may sound proud but I am really a proud Filipino student. for example the prof requires more than 1 journal for seminar, I will present 4 journals and all of them of high impact factor. Publications, as we all know publication is the "bread and buter" of our grad school and I see to it that I publish in a more prestigious journals than them. bowling.....kailanga n di ako kulelat kasi baka mapagkamalan nilang buko ang ginagamit na bola sa Pinas...hehehehe...T hen, at the end of the day they will even discriminate me kasi inggit sila....hahahaha.... :)

overall, i think this racism helps me to be more competitive....sorry na lang sila proud Pinoy ako.... :)

Racism is treating people of other races unfairly for no other reason but their having a different race, or in some cases I guess nationality (tama ba?). My experience with racism as a student is told in this old thread: Racism in Japan - any comments? (http://www.timog.com/forum/showthread.php?t=304 )

i dont know much about love (hehe)
but the thing i guess is there's no one plot that captures a nation's entire story-
every citizen plays a different role:
good or bad, forced or not and whatever the standard,
hindi dapat mag-generalize

hitler was not the epitome of all that's german
neither was pope john 2 of all that's polish

yeah, i remember this thread
thanks, Dax :)

was just thinking
there's reason to believe that since we're students
and are dealing with "the learned,"
then we should not really have racist encounters-
not from them, not in school.

plain disappointing.

racism ba. Its not my experience so I cant tell If this is racism.
