Anyone here in TF na meron ng driver's license? Hindi na daw ino-honor un international driver's license dito sa japan. Kailangan pang mag take ng exam then wait for several months bago makakuha ng menkyoshou. Mahirap ba un exam?

I received my license two years ago, in Kanuma, Tochigi-ken. Like you, I had my int'l license, too. So, my status was " menkyo kirikae". Meaning from int'l license to national (japanese) license. First, I went to 'kyoshujyo', or driving school. They trained me how to pass the 'jichi' or the actual driving test、which was held at Kanuma driving course area. After my training, I went directly to Kanuma License Center, and apply for 'menkyo kirikae'. The requirements were: passport, alien card, license from the phil. (not the int'l license). Then, I took an exam for the eyesight, then the writtten exam, which was very easy. After passing those, came the actual driving exam. Which was hard and very tricky. It took me SIX times before I passed it. I don't know the system in your prefacture. It may be different. Anyway, I'm sharing to you my experiences, hoping that this might help you. Good luck!

license
almost all foreigners are using international license here in japan, kaya thats not true ang hindi na iho honer ang international license,i have japanese license for almost 20 yrs, lahat ng traffic rules is pare pareho lang.kaya if your interested na magkaroon ka ng japanese license mas mabuti talaga ang mag practise ka mag drive sa driving school .tell them that you can drive already,2 weeks session ang bibigay sa iyo, tell them na you want to have a japanese license, may written test ,which is true or false or bibilugan mo lang which is correct, depende kasi sa lugar minsan ang iba.madali lang ang written medyo madugo lang ang actual dahil papasakayin ka nila with the instructor, fasten your seat belt first bago ka mag start ng engine ,at careful sa tomare, every kanto may nakasulat ng hiragana doon.Kayang kaya mo iyan, walang mawawala sa iyo kahit ba ilang beses basta may goal ka,mabibigyan ka.Good luck

Japanese driver's license
I heard that the easiest way to attain this license is, if you still have the first OR of your license in the Philippines. i have an international license. however, it will expire in september. having a Japanese driver's license "daw" would also be an advantage if you plan to apply as an ALT here. AFAIK yong 1st OR ko was issued last 1996. eh yong dala ko lang eh yong recent tska yong year 2000. pwede na ba yon? also, i heard that there are parts of Japan where you could easily obtain a driver's license. meron ding parts na mahirap, like in tokyo. madali ba pag sa provincial parts like saitama?
TIA

Saitama is no different to Tokyo. Pare-peraho lang ang ways ng pagkuha ng drivers license dito. Try to visit any local driving driving school close to your place and see if you can enrol to their intensive driving lesson (for two weeks), after that you will take a written exam ... and there you go.

thanks po. pero do you know if they convert your license pag dala mo nga yong first OR mo? kasi pwede ka din daw mgrequest ata nito sa LTO sa pinas in case nawala ata.
TIA
